The Backup Turbine Protection (PPRO) I/O pack and associated terminal boards offer an independent backup Overspeed protection system, as well as a backup check for generator synchronization to a utility bus. They also serve as an independent watchdog for the primary control. Three triple modular redundant (TMR) PPRO I/O packs mounted to separate simplex protection (SPRO) terminal board or three PPROs put on a TMR TPROH#C terminal board constitute a typical protection system.
