Safe Torque Off (STO)
Anadditional digital input (STO) releases the poweroutput stageof thedriveas longas a24V signal is appliedto
this input. If the STO input goes open-circuit, then powerwill nolongerbesuppliedtothemotor, andthedrivewill
lose all torque and coast toastop.

TheSTOfunctionis exclusively intendedtoprovidesafety forpersonnel by preventingtherestart of asystem.
Toachievethis personnel safety, thewiringof thesafety circuits must meet thesafety requirements of IEC
60204. ISO12100andISO13849.
6.17.3 Prohibited Use
TheSTOfunctionmust not beusedif thedriveis tobemadeinactiveforthefollowingreasons:
1. Cleaning, maintenanceandrepairoperations, longinoperativeperiods. Insuchcases, theentiresystem
should bedisconnectedfrom thesupply andsecured(mainswitch).
2. Emergency-stopsituations. Inanemergency-stopsituation, themaincontactoris switchedoff (by the
emergency-stopbutton).
Enclosure
SincethedrivemeetsIP20.youmustselectanenclosurethatpermitssafeoperationofthedrive.Theenclosure
mustatleastmeetIP54.
6.17.7 Wiring
Ifyouarewiringleadsthatareoutsidethespecifiedenclosure(IP54),thecablesmustbelaiddurably(firmly),pro
tectedfromoutsidedamage(forexample,bylayingthecableinaduct),placedindifferentsheathedcables,or
protectedindividuallybygroundingconnection.
WiringremainingwithinthespecifiedenclosuremustmeettherequirementsofthestandardIEC60204-1.
