Hirschmann MM20-Z6T1T1T1SAHH Hot-swappable fast Ethernet media module
Product Introduction / Overview
The Hirschmann MM20-Z6T1T1T1SAHH is an industrial-grade, hot-swappable Fast Ethernet media module designed for Belden Hirschmann's MICE (Modular Industrial Communication Equipment) switch series (specifically the MS20 and MS30 basic switches).
Featuring a hybrid port configuration—1 x Fast Ethernet SFP slot (Z6) and 3 x RJ45 10/100Base-TX copper ports (T1T1T1)—this media module allows network engineers to bridge long-distance optical fiber uplinks with direct local copper connections for PLCs, HMIs, and field devices inside factory cabinets.

Product Features / Core Advantages
Hybrid Flexibility: Combines flexible optical fiber uplink capability (via pluggable SFP) with local high-density RJ45 copper connections in a single backplane slot.
Hot-Swappable Architecture: Modules can be inserted or replaced on live MS20/MS30 switches without interrupting power or network traffic on adjacent slots.
Industrial Noise Immunity: Enclosed in heavy EMC-shielded casing to prevent electromagnetic interference common in high-voltage industrial environments.
Zero-Configuration Copper: Auto-negotiation and Auto-MDI/MDI-X eliminate the need for manual speed settings or crossover patch cables.
Diagnostic LED Feedback: Front-panel status indicators show physical link, data activity, and port speed for fast troubleshooting.
Model Classification (MICE Part Number Structure)
The part number MM20-Z6T1T1T1SAHH follows Hirschmann’s modular naming convention:
$$text{MM20} - underbrace{text{Z6}}_{text{SFP Slot}} , underbrace{text{T1T1T1}}_{text{3x RJ45 Copper}} , underbrace{text{S}}_{text{Standard Temp}} , underbrace{text{A}}_{text{Standard Feature}} , underbrace{text{HH}}_{text{Hardware Rev.}}$$
MM20: Fast Ethernet Media Module (100 Mbps).
Z6: 1 x Fast Ethernet SFP Transceiver Slot.
T1T1T1: 3 x Twisted Pair / RJ45 10/100Base-TX Ports.
S: Operating Temperature Range — Standard ($0^circtext{C}text{ to } +60^circtext{C}$). (Note: E indicates Extended Temperature $-40^circtext{C}text{ to } +70^circtext{C}$).
A: Approvals (Standard Industrial / cUL508).
HH: Hirschmann hardware design revision / configuration code.
Environmental Tolerance Conditions
Operating Temperature: $0^circtext{C}$ to $+60^circtext{C}$ ($32^circtext{F}$ to $140^circtext{F}$)
Storage Temperature: $-40^circtext{C}$ to $+70^circtext{C}$ ($-40^circtext{F}$ to $158^circtext{F}$)
Relative Humidity: 10% to 95% (non-condensing)
Vibration & Shock Resistance: IEC 60068-2-6 (Vibration), IEC 60068-2-27 (Shock) compliant
Contamination Protection: IP20 rated (Designed for installation inside IP54+ control panels or cabinets)
Installation Method
1.Safety & ESD Preparation:1 min。
Wear an ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) grounding wrist strap connected to cabinet earth before handling the electronics card to prevent static damage.
2.Align Module Rails:30 seconds。
Align the side guide rails of the MM20 module with an open, unpopulated media slot on the host MS20 or MS30 switch backplane frame.
3.Seat and Secure:1 min。
Slide the module firmly into the slot until the backplane connector locks in place. Hand-tighten the top and bottom captive thumbscrews to secure it against vibration.
4.Connect Cables:2 min。
• SFP Port: Insert an approved Hirschmann M-FAST-SFP optical transceiver into the Z6 slot until latched, then connect LC fiber cables.
• RJ45 Ports: Insert standard Cat5e/Cat6 shielded twisted-pair cables into the T1 copper ports until the clip clicks.
Operating Instructions
Power-Up Diagnostic: Upon sliding the module into an active switch, the front LEDs will briefly flash to indicate backplane power initialization.
Link Verification:
Solid Green LED: Active link established at 100 Mbps.
Blinking Green/Yellow: Active network traffic transmission/reception.
OFF: Cable disconnected, line unpowered, or distance exceeds limits (100 m for copper).
Hot-Swapping / Maintenance: To replace the module during live operation, disconnect cables, loosen captive screws, pull the module out, and insert the replacement unit without powering down the central switch.
Port Protection: Keep protective rubber dust caps over any unused SFP slots or RJ45 jacks to maintain internal IP20 cleanliness
