The Nidec MP75A5 and its regenerative version, the MP75A5R, are high-performance DC thyristor drives designed for mid-range power applications.

Operating at 75A, these units are specifically engineered for 575V AC supply environments.

 As part of the Mentor MP family, they offer a sophisticated migration path for legacy DC systems, providing modern digital control, enhanced safety features, and high-voltage tolerance in a compact Frame 1A chassis.

Models available for two or four quadrant (regenerative) operation

25A to 7400A, 24V - 480V / 500V - 575V / 500V - 690V

Optional high-brightness LED or multi-language LCD keypad, simple configuration using plain text

Modular parallel connection for higher power motor operation

12/24 pulse operation to minimize harmonics

Unique Product Description: The "Smart Torque Link"

The MP75A5 acts as the "Smart Torque Link" within an industrial plant.

It is uniquely positioned to handle motors that are too large for small micro-drives but don't require the massive footprint of a mill-duty bridge. It bridges the gap by offering high-voltage stability and elite-level motion control parameters usually found only in much larger, more expensive units.

Installation and Maintenance

Ventilation: Frame 1A units rely on efficient internal fans. Ensure that air intakes at the bottom and exhausts at the top are clear of dust and debris.

High-Voltage Safety: Working with 575V requires strict adherence to safety protocols. Use appropriately rated insulated tools and ensure the DC bus is fully discharged before maintenance.

Parameter Management: Use the SmartCard or CTSoft software to clone settings. This is vital for 24/7 operations where downtime for manual re-entry of parameters is unacceptable.

Field Weakening: If using the drive for high-speed operation, ensure the field weakening parameters are tuned correctly to prevent "runaway" conditions or motor damage.
