Operating & Commissioning Instructions

1. Network Integration & IP Assignment

Download the Hirschmann HiDiscovery tool on a computer connected to the same physical network segment.

Launch the utility to detect the switch's unassigned factory MAC address, then input a compatible IP address, subnet mask, and gateway.

Open an HTTPS browser window, enter the assigned IP address, and complete the setup by changing the default administrator password.

2. Physical Redundancy Configuration

To construct a resilient fiber loop without network loops:

Log into the Web Interface and navigate to Redundancy > MRP or HIPER-Ring.

Designate the two optical fiber ports (Ports 1 and 2) as your loop endpoints.

Assign one switch in your ring to act as the Ring Manager (RM) and leave all other nodes configured as Clients.

Fault Diagnosis

Hardware Status LED Interface

Power Indicators (P1 & P2): Steady green light indicates active, healthy incoming VDC power on the respective terminal. An unlit LED signals a source failure or tripped line fuse.

Fault LED (F):

Off: System is healthy.

Red / Solid: Indicates a triggered diagnostic warning (e.g., a critical link is lost, a redundant power supply is down, or the ambient temperature limit is exceeded).

Ring / Standby Manager (RM): Solid green indicates the switch is the active manager controlling a redundant loop.

Dry Contact Relay Alarm

The top 6-pin terminal plug features a dry relay contact.

In normal operations, the contact is closed. If a tracked alarm triggers or the switch loses operating power, the contact breaks open, allowing PLCs or RTUs to instantly detect the outage.
