Product Overview

The Hirschmann RS20-1600M2M2SDAUHC is a 16-port Unmanaged Industrial Fast Ethernet DIN-Rail Switch from Belden's OpenRail RS20 family.

It is configured with 14 × 10/100Base-TX RJ45 copper ports and 2 × 100Base-FX Multi-Mode (MM) SC optical fiber uplink ports, providing long-distance noise-immune network extensions (up to 5 km) for large control cabinet layouts.

Designed for cost-sensitive, plug-and-play field applications where network management is unnecessary, it retains full industrial-grade hardware reliability—including redundant power inputs, a signal contact fault relay, and standard industrial certifications.

Operating Instructions

DIN-Rail Mounting: Snap the switch onto a standard 35 mm DIN rail (EN 50022). Ensure the top retention latch locks into place.

Power & Fault Relay Wiring:

Wire dual redundant DC power feeds (9.6–60 V DC) or a single 24 V AC feed into the removable terminal block.

Wire the fault relay signal contact to a PLC input or indicator lamp to catch power/link failure events.

Earth Grounding: Connect a functional earth grounding wire to the screw terminal on the switch base for proper EMC compliance.

Network Cabling:

Insert standard Cat5e/Cat6 Ethernet cables into RJ45 ports 3 to 16.

Connect 50/125 $mu$m or 62.5/125 $mu$m Multi-Mode optical fiber cables with SC connectors to fiber ports 1 and 2.

Zero Configuration: As an unmanaged switch, it is completely plug-and-play. Packets will automatically begin store-and-forward switching upon cable connection.

Fault Diagnosis

Front Panel LED Diagnostics:

Power LED (P1 / P2) Off: Verify input power supply connections, check for proper polarity, and ensure voltage is within the 9.6–60 V DC range.

Fault / Alarm LED (Red): Triggers when one of the redundant power feeds loses voltage or a specified port link drops.

Port Link/Data LED Off:

Copper (RJ45): Inspect patch cable, verify connected device interface is powered on and running at 10/100 Mbps.

Fiber (SC): Inspect optical fiber connectors for dirt or damage, verify distance does not exceed 5 km, and check for correct TX-to-RX fiber polarity crossover.
