DIN-Rail Hanger Hooking: Locate the rigid metal mounting track on the back of the housing. Tilt the switch slightly backward and hook the upper slot of this track over the top flange of the standard 35mm DIN rail.

Downward Snap-in: Push the front-lower portion of the switch firmly toward the wall or panel. The heavy-duty metal spring-loaded tension slider will retract and snap over the lower edge of the rail, securing the switch.

PE Grounding Connection: Always wire the functional grounding screw (located at the bottom-left corner of the aluminum front plate) to your control cabinet's primary ground rail using a high-gauge, low-impedance conductor.

Operating Instructions

1. Redundant Power Input Wiring

Unscrew the 6-pin terminal block plug at the top-right corner. Complete wire routing:

Connect the main DC positive ($+$) to L1+ and ground ($-$) to M1.

Connect the backup DC positive ($+$) to L2+ and ground ($-$) to M2.

Fault Signal Relay: Use terminals F1 and F2 to wire an alarm signaling loop. If power supply 1 or 2 fails, or a critical port drops its connection, the internal dry-contact relay opens to trigger an external alarm indicator or PLC register.

2. Initial Setup & Browser Access

Step A: Download the free Hirschmann HiDiscovery utility. Connect your laptop to any copper RJ45 port on the switch.

Step B: Open HiDiscovery, click Signal, locate the unconfigured RS20 switch via its MAC address, and assign a valid, free IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway to match your network.

Step C: Open a standard browser (e.g., Chrome or Firefox) and enter the assigned IP address.

Step D: Log in using the default credentials: Username: admin and Password: private. Change the password immediately upon initial configuration.

3. Firmware Maintenance (Backup and Restore)

Because this unit runs version 09.0.14. ensure backup configurations are saved:

Insert a Hirschmann ACA21 USB Auto-Configuration Adapter into the front USB slot. The switch will automatically write its current configuration onto the dongle.

If the switch ever requires physical replacement, slot a new RS20-2400M2M2 switch onto the DIN rail, insert the ACA21 dongle, and power it up. The switch will automatically read the configuration and boot with identical settings, avoiding any need to log in manually.
