Functional Description

The Analog I/O pack (PAIC) is an electrical interface that connects one or two I/O Ethernet networks to an analog input terminal board. 

The PAIC includes a BPPx processor board as well as an acquisition board dedicated to the analog I/O function.

The module has ten analog inputs. The first eight inputs can be set to 5 V or 10 V or 4-20 mA current loop inputs. 

The final two inputs can be set to 1 mA or 4-20 mA current inputs.

The load terminal resistors for current loop inputs are located on the terminal board, and the PAIC senses voltage across these resistors. 

PAICH2 has two current loop outputs ranging from 0 to 20 mA.

 It also includes additional hardware that allows for 0-200 mA current on the first output only.

The I/O pack receives and sends data to the controller via dual RJ-45 Ethernet connectors and is powered by a three-pin connector. 

Field devices are communicated with via a DC-37 pin connector that connects directly to the associated terminal board.

LED indicator lights provide visual diagnostics.

Hardware Tips and Specifications

This pack has an internally placed BPPx processor board as well as an acquisition board that is used for thermocouple input functions.

Before even considering any ultimate purchase decision on this IS220PTCCH1A device, 

it is crucial to understand the fact that this IS220PTCCH1A device is actually not the originally-developed product of its specific Mark V Series intended functional role, 

as that would in fact be the IS220PTCCH1 parent Thermocouple Input Module noticeably not adopting this IS220PTCCH1A device's sole A-rated functional product revision. 

The IS220PTCCH1A can be used in simplex, duplex, and triple modular redundant applications.

This board can support E, J, K, S, and T standard thermocouples as well as mV inputs with a span of -8 to 45 mV.  E, J, K, S, and T thermocouples 

can be either grounded or ungrounded and can be located up to 984 feet from the turbine I/O panel.  Cable resistance must be kept to a maximum 450 Ω. 

The number of packs used dictate the following:

Qty 1 IS220PTCCH1A - 12 Thermocouple Inputs

Qty 2 IS220PTCCH1A - 24 Thermocouple Inputs

Qty 3 IS220PTCCH1A - Used in TMR Configurations

INSTALLATION:

Securely mount the desired terminal board.

Directly plug one PDIA I/O pack for simplex or three PDIA I/O packs for TMR into the terminal board connectors.

Mechanically secure the packs using the threaded studs adjacent to the Ethernet ports. 

The studs slide into a mounting bracket specific to the terminal board type.

The bracket location should be adjusted such that there is no right-angle force applied to the DC37 connector between the pack and the terminal board.

The adjustment should only be required once in the life of the product.

Plug in one or two Ethernet cables depending on the system configuration.

The pack will operate over either port. If dual connections are used, the standard practice is to connect ENET1 to the network associated with the R controller.

Apply power to the pack by plugging in the connector on the side of the pack.

It is not necessary to insert this connector with the power removed from the cable as the I/O pack has inherent soft-start capability that controls the current inrush on the power application.
