The Yokogawa SDV144-S13 is a high-reliability Digital Input Module designed specifically for the ProSafe-RS Safety Instrumented System (SIS). 

Unlike standard DCS modules, the SDV series is engineered for safety-critical applications, providing the rigorous diagnostic capabilities required to meet functional safety standards.

1. Introduction

The SDV144-S13 is a 16-channel, isolated digital input module. Its primary function is to monitor the status of field switches (such as emergency stop buttons, pressure switches, or level switches). 

It is a core component of safety loops, often used to trigger an Emergency Shutdown (ESD) or to manage Fire and Gas (F&G) systems. 

The module performs constant self-diagnostics to ensure that a "fail-safe" state is maintained even in the event of an internal component failure.
